Delta is an interactive sound art installation in which the encounterer is invited to explore an interactive virtual acoustic space.

The work is a changing audiovisual landscape which senses and responds to the public using digital technologies, programmed to create interaction between sound, light and the participants themselves.

The dialogue between the work and the audience is between body movement in space and the behaviour of the visualisations aswell as the diffusion of the soundscape.

Delta was nominated for the Seoul National University, Korea,  and the Nagoya University, Japan, prizes in recognition of outstanding artistic achievement at the University of Brighton in 2014.

Delta uses computer vision techniques, sensing technologies, visualisations and spatial audio tools.

The camera tracking interface is configured to be intuitive and natural to use. The user does not need to wear or use anything to interact with the work but effect the environment via movement of their bodies in space.

A quadrophonic speaker setups is installed to allow for manipulation of the spatial acoustics.

A short throw projector attached to the ceiling covers the floorspace, the projections are designed to encourage movement within the space and further interaction with the soundscape.

The sounds feature full audio sound recordings as well as live synthesis and effects processing.

Created with Max/MSP, HD-3 & Zoom H2 microphones.

The work has been shown at the Digital Music and Sound Art degree show '14.
